No-exam life insurance

Who can qualify for instant decisions, how the process works, and what happens if you don't.

Many carriers now provide accelerated underwriting: for applicants within certain age and amount thresholds, they use the application, pharmacy records, driving history, and other databases rather than ordering an exam. Approvals can arrive within hours. Each quote shown here notes whether an exam is required, optional, or unnecessary.

What it changes

No exam doesn't mean no scrutiny. Applications are checked against available records, and policies based on false statements can be rescinded within the first two years. A carrier may still order an exam or lab work if something looks off; at that point, you choose whether to continue.

Who tends to qualify

Applicants roughly under 60 seeking amounts within a carrier's fast-track cap, with no serious health problems and no tobacco in the previous 12 months or longer. A recent medical visit with lab results can sometimes substitute for an exam.

A visit usually runs 20 to 30 minutes with a paramedical examiner who comes to your home or workplace in Merced, at no charge. A clean exam sometimes improves your rate grade for qualified applicants, so exams aren't always a drawback.
